Lavasoft is a software development corporation often referred to as the “original” anti‐spyware company. Its signature product, Ad‐Aware, has been downloaded more than 350 million times worldwide. Lavasoft’s headquarters has been located in Gothenburg, Sweden, since 2002. Nicolas Stark and Ann-Christine Åkerlund established the company in Germany in 1999.
Lavasoft was founded on the ideals of consumer reporting, ethical advertising, and social change. And they continue to operate on those principles today. They are not only committed to providing their users with personal security by cleaning up and blocking spyware from the computer system, they are also committed to creating long-term social change.
The company is run by CEO Jason King, former CEO Ann‐Christine Åkerlund and Nicolas Stark are still partners. Lavasoft is a private company with 4,000 partners in over 120 countries.
