The
Shield Deluxe 2010
uses a combination of reactive antivirus and spyware detection methods
(signature databases updated frequently via the Internet) and the
latest proactive technologies powered by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 (such
as behavior blocking and heuristic analysis) to provide the computer
with effective protection against malicious programs
(generally
known as malware.)
The software installs in a matter of minutes -
there
is no need to restart the computer. Once installed,
the user
will find it easy to use, with context sensitive help available to
explain any function that aren't sure of. However, experience users
will still find plenty of options to customize the program's operation.
Status monitors give a clear indication of the computer's protection
level, and provide advice on dealing with potential threats.
The Shield Deluxe scans incoming and outgoing emails
for
viruses. This basic protection is provided for any email program, while
special plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express
are also available.
To guard against rogue downloads and other malicious exploits, all web
content downloaded by the user's browser is scanned for viruses in
real-time, ensuring that malware is detected before it can be saved to
the PC's hard drive.
The Shield Deluxe monitors the activity of programs and processes in
memory and watches for changes to the system registry. The program can
alert the user to any dangerous, suspicious or hidden processes ( such
as rootkits) and attempts to make unauthorized changes.

product began to annoy me with a series of seemingly endless
popups starting the day I installed it. It was constantly popping up
messages with a list of choices for dealing with "threats" and
"suspicious" files it had detected. I finally disabled the "proactive"
feature because the endless popup "warnings" and messages were about to
drive me someplace I didn't want to go..."

user friendly, effective without being resource intensive,
their customer service/support can't be beat and the price is beyond
the best value (considering I've paid significantly more for

"..Customer
support is virtually non existent. Runaroud with requests to live chat.
After an hour of waiting between 5 and 10 minuted for each relpy, all I
got acvomplished was to remove and re-install the software and the
problem still existed. They keep e-mailing me that it will be escilated
to a level 2 tech and then a level 1 tech asks me to live chat again....

freezes and slows after installing Shield Deluxe... Free
customer service means online chat with agents who kept referring user
to other departments or links to resolve the problems. Then abruptly
cut off chat line. If the links don't resovle the problem, user need to
log back into online chat to a different agent who asked user to
restate a simple issue that could have been resolved in 10 minutes but
were dragged out to 3 days. My problem is still not resolved!"
